Easter Down South Part 2, April 2026

Bar Tarifa Denmark, Friday 10th April

(this was written more than a week ago but forgot to post!)

Am watching Mark play at his gig. The audience has been pretty good - clapping after each song - but some guy collapsed about half an hour so that was a bit distracting.... The ambulance came but it seems he is ok.

Backtracking a bit now …

We continued to have a lovely time at the Bay. Bought fish and chips and ate them up the estuary one evening with Cynthia, Suzanne and Gary (Cynthia's sister and brother in law), and Kayelene, Didi and Wilbur. It was a gorgeous calm evening.

Mark faking catching a fish. He did actually catch one at some point- but threw it back as too small

Didi displayed some skilled casting

Wilbur in his very large ute

I climbed up to the top of the sandhill and took the photos below. You can see why we love it so much

This is Cynthia and Gary with their new torches looking for crabs.

The next night, with the same people (minus Didi who went back to Perth), we had a paint and sip evening at our house. First time I’ve hosted one and it was fun! I loaded up with paint when we went to Walpole earlier in the day, plus we had quite a lot of kids' old paint sitting around anyway. Gary and Susanne both painted insects, Cynthia did several emus in the style of Wendy Binks, I did landscapes, Kayelene did abstract pictures with accompanying stories. Even Wilbur joined in :-)  Mark played for us whilst we painted. Definitely think we''ll be doing that again :-)

On our final night I had a proper catch up with Kayelene, and then it was pack up time, with a very yummy lunch at the Dam en route to Denmark. We stayed the night in Denmark because we wanted to get away reasonably early as it was Talia and Melissa's 23rd party at our house in Perth that evening. More on their party next blog!
